We have been alerted that threat actors may be posing as related companies of Quantedge Capital in other countries, notably Malaysia and Hong Kong, or falsely claiming to be representing or in partnership with Quantedge Capital. These threat actors may also falsely claim to be regulated entities and provide forged copies of business registration certificates as apparent "proof" of their legitimacy.
In one variation of such a scam, the threat actor offers "live trading" courses or investment opportunities via websites, social media platforms or mobile applications that are available for download on legitimate platforms (such as Google Play Store or Apple App Store). They may also promise high investment returns, partner loyalty programs or attractive rewards in exchange for depositing funds or referring other clients to them. After an initial investment is made, the victims may be shown fictitious profits to mislead them into making further deposits.
